Overpressure is one of the methods of sevoflurane induction. It involves a primed circuit with sevoflurane 8 % with high fresh gas flow with the patient taking vital capacity breaths. LMA insertion as early as 2.5 to 3 min and surgical plane in 5 min with this method has been published . Modification includes the addition of nitrous oxide. A method called "coasting" is described where the inhalational is switched off and low flow is used. Here the agent is recirculated in the circuit utilising the property of minimal metabolism.
